Bookish Book Lover Tag

I’ve recently been tagged by Tracy, at Adventure Awaits, for the Bookish Book-lover tag.  Many thanks, Tracey!  I love to spiel about books!  I think the rules were to list one book per question, unless specified otherwise.  But I can’t really be expected to restrain myself, can I?

1) What Book Are You Currently Reading?

A book about listening to God, a book about someone who escaped from a cult, the Silmarailion, The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict, and my bible.  I’m also reading Voyage of the Dawn Treader to little bro. Life is busy.

2) What’s The Last Book You Finished?

Queen Elizabeth’s Wooden Teeth (and Other Historical Fallacies).  It was an awesome book!  (Shennachies are historians, as well as storytellers).

3) Favorite Book You Read This Year?

Failstate: Nemisis-John W. Otte

-Draven’s light– Anne Elisabeth Stengl

-Queen Elizabeth’s Wooden Teeth (and Other Historical Fallacies) –Andrea Barham

The Silver Chair (re-read)- C.S.Lewis

4) What Genre Have You Read Most This Year?

Non-fiction.  Especially books about writing.  I’ve also re-read a lot of Fantasy.

5) What Genre Have You Read Least This Year?

-Is superhero a genre?  ‘Cuz I only read one: Failstate: Nemesis.

6) What Genre Do You Want To Read More Of?

-Science Fiction, Steampunk, Historical (fiction and non-fiction), Classics, and always more Fantasy!

7) How Many Books Have You Read This Year, And What’s Your Goal?

I haven’t read as many books this year as I would have liked.   I think around a little over a dozen.   My goal is to read as many as I can get my hands on (and as time allows.  I still need to sleep and work).

8) What’s The Last Book You Bought?

And finally:

-Company’s Coming, for anyone who loves good food.  (What?  Cookbooks count!  They do!)

15) What Series’ Coming Conclusion Makes You Sad?

Most of my favourite series have already concluded.  I can’t imagine the end of the Tales of Goldstone Wood, and I don’t want to imagine it!

16) What Books Are On Your Wish-List?

Everything listed in #11 and #9, but also:

-The Warden and the Wolf King– Andrew Peterson

-Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy– Rich Hobson

And that’s that.  Now, it’s difficult finding someone who has not yet been tagged for this (not that I know of, at least), but I think I will tag Jemma and Tessa, if they would like to take the tag.  Have fun with it!

    1. You’re very welcome! I hope you enjoy it.

Queen Elisabeth’s Wooden Teeth isn’t quite comedy, but there is often a comedic feel to it. It’s a book that goes through historical fallacies, disproving them. Historical fallacies irk me to no end, so I loved this book. (Turns out that Queen Elisabeth didn’t have wooden teeth after all. They used plugs of rolled cloth to fill tooth gaps in the sixteenth century.)

  1. You did the tag!!! And what an eclectic collection this is! 😀

Queen Elizabeth’s Wooden Teeth sounds intriguing. For some reason, it reminds me of a book I paged through at a cabin we vacationed in last summer… It wasn’t about historical fallacies at all, but the origins behind common idioms. (See? I don’t know why one reminded me of the other. XD)

DRAVEN’S LIGHT. I NEEDS IT, PRECIOUS.

I’m always slightly awed by those who consume so much nonfiction. I’ve never been able to bring myself to read it that copiously, but there’s so much to learn from it…

I highly approve of #9. Haven’t read the first book in that list, but all the others are ones I want to get my hands on someday too.

AND POISON CROWN. OH, I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S PUBLISHED. I also really want to read the Wingfeather Saga now. 🙂

I love that you mentioned Mennonite Girls Can Cook. My mom visits their blog often and gets quite a few recipes from them! Mennonite food is delicious indeed.

Loved reading your answers! And your book photos are so pretty. Happy reading, Blue!

    1. Thanks for such a fun and bookish tag!

That book about idiom origins sounds like something I’d enjoy. I suppose it ties in with the historical fallacies one because they are both books about random and commonly misunderstood information.

I don’t think Crosswinds is a well known book. But it has steampunk elements and dinosaur-like creatures, so I had to put it up there.

Mennonite food is so good- all those cabbage rolls and fritters!

      Thanks again!

  2. Thank you for the tag! I apologize for not seeing it sooner.

Although I haven’t read the books in a few years, I recently did an assignment about the last Anne Of Green Gables book, and it reminded me of why I love them so much. Have you read anything else by L.M. Montgomery? My personal favourites are Jane Of Lantern Hill, and Kilmeny Of The Orchard. They’re amazing. Definitely try and read them if you haven’t already.

    1. Your’e welcome! (It’s alright. Curious thing, though. Wonder what happened to those e-mails)

Rilla of Ingleside was such a beautiful, bittersweet book! I’ve read A Tangled Web, but not many other L.M. Montgomery books. I think I’ll try Kilmeny of the Orchard sometime.

      1. I looked, and I think it hadn’t automatically set it to send me emails when I followed your blog.

Kilmeny is one of my all time favourite feel good books. I love it so much.

  3. I haven’t read all that many of these, but I LOVE Macbeth! So so glad you enjoyed. And of course, all the love for Anne and for Narnia ❤

Are you enjoying the Silmarillion? I haven't read any Tolkien apart from, obviously, LOTR. As for Tales of Goldstone Wood, you and Tracey between you have made me really want to read them!

I really need to reread The Hiding Place.

    1. So far it’s taking me a long time to read the Silmarillion. I save it for the quieter moments on my coffee and lunch break. I haven’t even started the story yet. I’m just reading Tolkien’s letter to the editor, which they put in there. It’s interesting, actually.

Yes, you must read the Tales of Goldstone Wood!
